CDP confirms our pioneering role in the area of climate
Stories

As Greiner, we report annually to the non-profit organization CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and have our sustainability performance assessed. The good news: we were able to improve further in 2023 and achieved a rating of A- in the climate area for the first time.

CDP rates the management of the environmental impact of companies, countries, cities and regions with grades A to D. Data and information on CO2 emissions, climate risks and reduction targets and strategies are collected using standardized questionnaires. CDP has the world’s largest database of its kind. As Greiner, we have been reporting to CDP since 2018 and can thus demonstrate our progress in the areas of climate, water security and forests.

A- rating achieved in the area of climate
In the past, we had set ourselves the goal of achieving an A-score in the area of climate by 2024. Fortunately, we have now already achieved an A- rating in 2023. This means that we as a company have a leading role in the environmental area.
Nevertheless, we will not rest on our laurels and will continue our efforts to improve further. We were also able to improve our rating in the water safety category from C to B-. As in 2022, we received a C rating in the forest category..

"Transparency and responsibility are top priorities for us as a company. Ratings like the one from CDP allow us to compare ourselves with others and derive concrete measures."

Recognized for supplier engagement
In 2023, we were also recognized for being particularly proactive in working with our suppliers. Together with over 450 other companies, we made it onto the CDP Supplier Engagement Leaderboard. As a Supplier Engagement Leader, Greiner also plays a leading role in the supply chain.

The importance of CDP
We are working to continuously improve our climate reporting and implement measures in the area of environmental protection. “Transparency and responsibility are top priorities for us as a company. Ratings like the one from CDP allow us to compare ourselves with others and derive concrete measures,” says Doris Vollgruber, Expert Climate at Greiner AG.

In 2023, a total of 23,000 companies reported their data to CDP, which shows the great importance of this rating. Sherry Madera, Chief Executive Officer at CDP, comments: “With over 23,000 businesses disclosing through CDP this year, it is clear that sustainability – and the data that underpins it – is not a ‘nice to have’, but an essential part of long-term success in the business community that is showing no sign of slowing down – nor should it.”
